Parmalee Releases Powerful Music Video Recounting Near-Fatal Robbery Incident

In a poignant and gripping musical narrative, multi-platinum country group Parmalee unveils the emotionally charged music video for their latest single, “Gonna Love You.” The song serves as a testament to the harrowing night the band faced an attempted robbery that nearly claimed the life of their drummer.

After a performance in South Carolina, brothers Matt and Scott Thomas found themselves in the crosshairs of danger when two intruders entered their RV, demanding cash. A sudden and intense gunfight ensued, with Scott bravely fending off the attackers but not without sustaining three gunshot wounds. He was swiftly airlifted to a hospital, where he spent a staggering 40 days recovering, 10 of which were spent in a coma.

“We felt like this was the right song and the right time to tell this story,” reflected Scott. “It was emotional and surreal for all of us to relive that experience, but we knew it was time.”

Remarkably, a mere four months after the traumatic incident, Parmalee took the stage for the first time since the shooting. That night proved to be a turning point for the band as they secured a record deal they had tirelessly pursued for years.

“We couldn’t believe how many people came together to help us. We would’ve never made it through had it not been for our fans, families, friends, and all the bands and musicians who came together to help us out! We didn’t even ask, they just did it!” Scott expressed with gratitude.

The accompanying music video provides a visual reenactment of that fateful night, offering viewers a raw and unfiltered glimpse into the intensity of the ordeal. The decision to share their traumatic experience underscores Parmalee’s commitment to authenticity and the healing power of music.

“Gonna Love You” follows the band’s recent #1 single, “Girl In Mine.” Parmalee, signed to Stoney Creek Records, has achieved an impressive feat with four #1 radio singles, including three consecutive ones in as many years. Their track record surpasses that of any other band or group in country music during this period.

The band’s previous hits include “Take My Name,” Billboard’s Most Played Country Song of 2022, and the platinum hit “Just The Way” with Blanco Brown. Parmalee initially ascended the charts with the ode to their home state, “Carolina.”

As the year draws to a close, Parmalee is set to conclude 2023 with a handful of live shows in December. Looking ahead, they will redirect their focus to the much-anticipated “In The Air” Tour in 2024, where they will join forces with country sensation Kane Brown.
