Chayce Beckham

“American Idol” winner Chayce Beckham’s “23” hits No. 1 on country radio

Chayce Beckham’s hit single “23” has skyrocketed to the number one spot on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. The song’s remarkable journey to the top was fueled by a 22% increase in audience impressions, reaching a massive 28.2 million during the week of March 22-28, according to Luminate.

Expressing his gratitude, Beckham thanked his family, team, and fans for their unwavering support, calling the achievement a dream come true. He also acknowledged country radio for embracing his song.

“23” not only claimed the top position but also achieved the biggest leap to the summit since Thomas Rhett’s “Angels Don’t Always Have Wings” last September. Impressively, it took “23” 60 weeks to reach number one, marking one of the longest journeys since Dylan Scott’s “Can’t Have Mine” in December.

It’s important to note that Beckham’s “23” is distinct from Sam Hunt’s song of the same name, which topped the charts in April 2022.

What is Chayce Beckham known for?

Originally from Apple Valley, California, Beckham rose to fame after winning ABC’s American Idol in 2021. He performed “23” live on the show, making history as the first contestant to win with an original song.

Beckham joins an illustrious group of American Idol winners who have found success in country music, including Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery, and Kelly Clarkson.

Moreover, “23” stands out as a solo-written hit, a rarity in today’s music landscape. It’s the first single penned by a single person to top the Country Airplay chart since Luke Combs’ cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” last July.

In addition to Beckham’s success, Scotty McCreery continues to make waves in country music with his latest track “Cab in a Solo,” which recently cracked the top 10.
