The Country Radio Seminar (CRS) has just announced the five talented artists who will be the faces of country music in 2024, continuing a tradition dating back to 1970.
Previous honorees include big names like Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, George Strait, and the latest addition, Jelly Roll, in 2023.
To be eligible, artists must meet specific criteria and commit to performing at the New Faces of Country Music showcase. Out of seven nominees, the top five for 2024 are George Birge, Dillon Carmichael, Corey Kent, Megan Moroney, and Conner Smith.
The showcase is set for March 1 in Nashville, featuring a diverse lineup with each artist having taken their own unique path to success.
Birge, of “Mind on You” fame, transitioned from the duo Waterloo Revival to solo success. Carmichael, known for “Son of A,” patiently built his traditional country sound over a decade, gaining traction after signing with Riser House.
Kent and Moroney went viral with “Wild as Her” and “Tennessee Orange” before signing with Sony Music Nashville. Smith’s song “I Hate Alabama” went viral, and after two years, he’s now eligible with his chart-climbing hit “Creek Will Rise” currently in the Top 20.
The selection process involves a vote from industry members, excluding those who have been part of the showcase before. Representatives for each artist confirm their availability and commitment to perform if selected.
The 2024 nominees triumphed over contenders Warren Zeiders and Chayce Beckham.
